Louise St. Germain Bannon: Women’s Health Moves to the Center of the Global Health Agenda

Louise St. Germain Bannon, Interim Executive Director at International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), shared European Medicines Agency’s post on LinkedIn, adding:

“I’m encouraged to see this focus on women’s health becoming such an important part of the global health conversation.

As a health advocate and someone who has spent much of my career working at the intersection of science, healthcare, communications and global collaboration, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to bring women’s health into the center of the conversation, not treat it as an afterthought!

At the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) we’re doing tremendous work in this space, from our Women’s Health Hub to advancing awareness and understanding of bleeding and clotting disorders across a woman’s lifespan.

There is so much more to do, but there is also real momentum!”

European Medicines Agency shared a post on LinkedIn, adding:

“By the end of 2026, EMA will develop a regulatory roadmap to help drive decisive change on how women’s health is considered across medicines development and regulation.

This follows a multistakeholder workshop held on 28 and 29 September in Amsterdam, which brought together over 100 leading voices on women’s health at EU and international level, from regulators to patients, healthcare professionals, non-governmental organisations, industry and academia.

Over two days, these participants prioritised 10 proposed actions, highlighting areas where EMA could lead, collaborate, or influence.

The priority actions will feed into a roadmap on medicines for women’s health, which will include concrete deliverables with timelines.”
