Pregnancy in Sickle Cell Disease: Addressing the Underrecognized Risk of Venous Thromboembolism
American Society of Hematology shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Pregnancy in sickle cell disease carries a high risk of thrombotic complications, yet guidance on anticoagulation remains inconsistent.
Chronic hypercoagulability and prior thrombotic events heighten these risks, making early recognition, individualized care, and preventive strategies essential.
Collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches and evidence-based anticoagulation protocols can help improve outcomes for this vulnerable population.”
