Maha Othman: Real-World Learning Is Essential in Preparing Our Future Nurses!
Maha Othman, Editor-in-Chief of Current Opinion in Hematology Journal, Research Co-Lead at CanVECTOR Research Network, shared on LinkedIn:
”Real-world learning is essential in preparing our future nurses!
1 in 4 people currently die from a cause related to thrombosis. Three main ones: Heart Attack, Stroke and VTE.
It was a pleasure to engage my BNUR2002 Pathophysiology students (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) St. Lawrence College in a meaningful discussion on thrombosis—a critical topic in patient care.
Teaching goes beyond the textbook, and it’s vital to our students to understand the real-world impact of conditions like thrombosis.
VTE is on the WHO Global Patient Satefy Action 2021-2030 as it is a preventable cause of death.
As we mark World Thrombosis Day, it’s a timely reminder of the importance of early detection, prevention, and education.
Proud of our many excellent Canadian nurses who chose this to be their focus and grateful for their contribution such as Laurie Sardo and Elise Thomson Moore; just to name a couple.
Sharing slides from my lecture on Cardiovascular Pathologies last week.”
