Be a Secret Santa – For a Child With Leukemia, a Mother in Childbirth, and a Stranger Who Wants Another Christmas
Dr Arun V J, Member of The Association for Blood Donor Professionals and Medical Doctor at Malabar Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Santa messed up. (And why you need to fix it.) He Wants You to Be Secret Santa for Someone.
Santa is great at logistics. He brings toys, gadgets, and socks you didn’t ask for. He brings what is “wanted.”
But he fails at bringing what is needed.
Right now, as you are planning your holiday leave and buying wrapping paper, hospitals are terrified. It happens every single year. The “December Dip.”
Everyone goes on holiday. Donors stay home. Colleges close (no campus drives).
But do you know who doesn’t take a holiday? The ER. The Trauma Unit. The Cancer Ward. Car accidents don’t check the calendar. Hemorrhages don’t wait for New Year’s.
We are running short. And Santa can’t manufacture blood bags in the North Pole.
This is where you come in.
I want you to be a different kind of Secret Santa this year.
Forget the cheap coffee mug or the scented candle they’ll re-gift anyway.
Give the only gift where:
It costs you strictly $0.
It takes only 30 minutes.
You have ZERO liability.
100% Customer Satisfaction. (I guarantee the receiver won’t return it. They will treasure it for the rest of their life. Literally.)
You don’t have to sacrifice your family time. You don’t have to cancel your trip. You just need to stop by a center on your way out.
Help Santa deliver life.
Be a Secret Santa to a kid fighting leukemia. To a mother needing a transfusion during birth. To a stranger who wants to see their family next Christmas.
If you consider yourself a leader, lead by example. Roll up your sleeve.
PS: I write about productivity, leadership, and the reality of healthcare over at www.thirdthinker.com. If this post made you think, check it out.
Are you donating before the year ends? Let me know in the comments so I can thank you personally.”
