Fritz Torto: Why Every Survivor Has a Duty to Build a Stronger Future for Others
Fritz Torto, Communication Associate at Opportunity International EduFinance, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It was March 29, 2006.
Ghana witnessed a rare total solar eclipse…a cosmic reminder that darkness is temporary, but I was in my own eclipse, my darkest moment yet.
Playing with my younger brother Paulos Torto, I took a seemingly minor hit to the gum, that injury triggered profuse bleeding.
I slept through the morning, woke to swollen pain, and bled until I nearly lost consciousness.
Mom rushed me to the hospital but Dad was away for work and was my only blood match.
He raced back, donated, and held the line between life and loss.
I regained consciousness on the day of the eclipse.
As Ghana’s sky darkened, so had mine but light broke through.
Today, raising awareness for hemophilia in Ghana, I share this…even in your darkest hour, you can rise.
I’m proof and still here, stronger.”
